Ordering

    Tips

    • Engine choice: There is a ton of great discussion related to this in the UOG group.
    • Once you tell Ultima your engine choice, it cannot be changed.
    • There are separate options lists for LS vs LT engines. Make sure you have the right one.
    • Luggage Containers are optional, but are needed to mount engine ECU.
    • Ultima can sometimes help you order the engine and trans. I ordered my new LT4 dry sump crate motor through Ultima and it shipped directly from GM. I ordered my new Porsche G96/01 transaxle through Ultima and they included it in my shipment. Their prices were better than anywhere else I could find new.
    • Read the many UOG posts related to clutches. Depending on your needs, the Ultima clutch may work perfect. Some people purchased their clutches from RPS and Kennedy Engineering. I originally ordered an RPS triple carbon clutch, but later discovered it did not fit easily with a G96/01. I didn't want to go down the "custom adapter plate" route, so I returned it and ordered the Kennedy setup that is designed for "LT4 to Inverted 996".
    • The options lists are often missing options, so maybe ask if there's something you want but don't see. Some examples builders have seen: Body Pre-Fit Service, Laser Cut Panels, Vinyl Sun Visor Kit, Build Plaque
    • If you're a first time builder like me, I recommend you order everything through Ultima. The 2 groups of items I did not order through them (clutch/adapter plate/starter & engine mounting plates/mounts) both worked for other builders (they had LT5 + G97/50) but did not work for me. Even the clutch builder thought it would work. I lost a lot of time and had to return, reorder and wait for the right parts. I'm learning a ton from this first build and should have kept it as simple as possible for the first time.

    Body Pre-Fit

    Tips

    • Most builders will agree that the Body Pre-Fit option is a must. I heard it takes Ultima 40 hrs to complete it and most builders would take at least double that.
    • Nigel's 2nd video has great tips on what to do before removing the pre-fit body.
